Skin Mesotherapy
This method is called “mesotherapy” because the area where the skin is injected and the layers affected are called “mesoderm”, which is the embryologically developed part of the skin. Thousands of years ago, for the treatment of certain diseases, the thorns of cacti were pricked into the skin and insect stings were applied. Scientific injection of substances into the skin began to be allowed 200 years ago.
Mesotherapy was born with the French doctor Michel Pistor. Pistor administered a substance with analgesic and anesthetic effects into the vein to prevent an asthma attack and incidentally cured tinnitus in the same patient. Later, at the request of the same patient, he achieved a similar success by injecting the tinnitus treatment locally into the skin on the “mastoid” bone behind the ear. With this application, disease treatments have started to be performed with local injections into the skin.
Mesotherapy is applied in cosmetic dermatology in the form of injecting certain cocktails at certain doses, at certain intervals, on the face, body, scalp, problematic skin or the area where anti-aging effect is desired. The specialist physician decides whether mesotherapy alone will be sufficient or not, depending on the goal of the patient. This method is also very suitable for combined treatments.
Mesotherapy for Scalp
It is the administration of appropriate cocktails to the scalp at a depth of 2-4 mm, along the shaft of the hair follicle (the pore where the hair grows), with serial needling technique. It is recommended to start with 4-6 sessions once a week, followed by 2-3 sessions at 15-day intervals and then at least once every 3 months. After the treatment course is completed, the sessions can be interrupted or continued. Regarding hair loss, first of all, a good analysis and evaluation of the examinations should be evaluated, then if there is an underlying problem, it should be treated or controlled. The aim of hair mesotherapy is to maintain the health of the existing hair and to target more voluminous hair.
Facial Mesotherapy
The goal of mesotherapy on our face involves giving the fibroblasts, the factory cells of our skin, the substances they need. Apart from collagen and elastic fibers, the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, which is the support material of connective tissue, also belongs to fibroblasts, and it is possible to give the materials that these cells will use to the skin with mesotherapy. Especially cocktails consisting of vitamin C and amino acids as well as DMAE and some minerals are preferred in this area. Depending on age and skin condition, at least 4 sessions can be given at intervals of 1 week to 4 weeks and then maintenance treatment once a month.
Mesotherapy in Cellulite Treatment
Cellulite, a disease of connective tissue, is observed in genetically predisposed people and with circulatory problems. Caffeine, procaine as a circulatory regulator; cocktails consisting of amino acids are preferred to support connective tissue. In the layer where cellulite is located, there is an irregularity of subcutaneous fat tissue that cannot be converted into energy. For this reason, this problem can be seen under the skin even in those who do sports. With this technique, it is possible to eliminate this problem to a great extent thanks to direct injection.
Mesotherapy for Weight Loss
It is the fastest method to achieve results in the treatment of deep adipose tissue, that is, in the reduction of fat. However, the amount of calories taken orally must also be regulated. The reaction of fat cells to the solutions we give can be summarized as opening the cell membranes and releasing their contents into the inter-tissue circulation. This triggers the expenditure of unstimulated fat tissue. The general ingredients of the solutions are soy salt (deoxylyze) and carnitine. Session intervals are 7-14 days and the number of sessions varies according to the target.
Regardless of the area and for what purpose, the basic opinion in mesotherapy is that cocktails that are suitable and special for each patient’s own body should be applied by qualified people by prioritizing health. In this case, the practicing physician should be expected to have special interest and knowledge in mesotherapy.
