Morpheus 8 for Skin Rejuvenation
What is Morpheus 8?
Morpheus 8 is a needle radiofrequency technology applied to the skin for non-surgical face lift. As a result of stimulating the skin’s producing cells with radiofrequency, it has been observed that the number of collagen fibers in the skin increases, the skin is firmer and the pores are smoother. As we age, the collagen, elastic fiber and hyaluronic acid production of the skin decreases and the skin’s self-repair rate slows down.
Morpheus 8 is an improved needle radiofrequency method that acts directly on the dermis layer of the skin. This layer contains cells called fibroblasts. The task of fibroblasts is to produce fibers that are responsible for providing the skin with firmness, tension and elasticity. These fibers are collagen and elastic fibers. Collagen fibers provide the skin’s firmness; elastic fibers provide its ability to stretch. The production of these fibers decreases as we age. The gravity we are exposed to as we age is also effective in sagging skin and the fact that we will always be exposed to gravity alone is a source of motivation for this application. However, there is another very important factor that affects the skin from a young age and leaves a very significant damage when it comes to advanced ages; the sun, that is, ultraviolet rays. UV rays directly cause the breakage of collagen fibers and thus wrinkles. It also causes the elastic fibers in the skin to cluster and aggregate, reducing the skin’s ability to stretch. In skin that cannot stretch, wrinkles appear deeper and in the form of scars, even diamond-shaped figures in places. Therefore, protecting the skin against UV rays from a young age is an important investment for older ages. In addition to collagen and elastic fibers, fibroblasts are also the cells that produce hyaluronic acid, the gel-like structure that provides moisture to our skin.
Hyaluronic acid is the main substance of the dermis, the second layer of our skin; it plays an important role in maintaining the vitality, production and defense of skin cells in the healing process. There are many results in the literature that hyaluronic acid increases the rate of wound healing. Hyaluronic acid is a protein-sugar complex and has the ability to attract water where it is located. For this reason, it increases the moisture level of the skin and offers the cells the best environment during defense, healing and production. Especially as you get older, hyaluronic acid production decreases due to decreases in the levels of hormones associated with anti-aging. In fact, it is known that the first wrinkles of the skin start in the skin under the eyes from the age of 18. For this reason, it is recommended to care for this area with moisturizers rich in hyaluronic acid. Drinking plenty of water and regular sleep (growth factor, melatonin) have positive effects on hyaluronic acid production.
How to Apply Morpheus 8?
Morpheus 8 needles are very thin and have a total of 24 pieces in a square head. Each needle rapidly delivers energy doses adjusted according to the needs of the skin to the dermis, that is, to the producer cells. Therefore, micro traumas are created on the skin and skin cells are stimulated to work. Radiofrequency energy is an energy determined by the physician according to the thin, thick dermis structure and skin tone of the patient’s skin, not a laser. For this reason, it is an application that works with energy, not wavelength (as in laser).
An anesthetic cream is applied to the application area before Morpheus8 application. For PRP, which we apply simultaneously, blood is taken and centrifuged. Morpheus 8 is applied to one half of the entire face, including the neck, and one of the PRP tubes is squeezed onto the skin from the top without a needle. A medical moisturizing cream is applied and the other half of the face is moved to the other half of the face and the same procedures are applied respectively.
Water contact with the skin on the same day after the Morpheus 8 procedure is not recommended. Make-up is not recommended for the first three days except for eye and lip makeup. It is sufficient to moisturize the skin with medical moisturizers in the first week. As with any medical application, the use of sunscreen cream is recommended. The number of sessions is determined by the physician according to the needs of the patient and the positioning of the combined treatment options to be applied. In our clinic, Morpheus 8 is not applied alone, it is always combined with PRP and is repeated at intervals of 3-6 months after being applied for 2 sessions once a month. While planning the annual anti-aging applications of our patients, we position other applications such as wrinkle treatment, filling, (hyaluronic acid) paris glow, mesotherapy, moisture vaccine among the device applications.
Morpheus 8 Body, needle radiofrequency method can also be used for anti-aging purposes for the body. Morpheus 8 body device has a head with 40 micro needles. It is an effective treatment option that stimulates collagen production especially in areas where we want the skin to tighten. It is used in combination with other treatments to tighten the abdominal skin after pregnancy and to trigger collagen production in areas with stretch marks (striae). Similarly, it is applied in horizontal lines above the kneecaps, on the inside of the arms, on the inside of the legs, in body areas where the skin is planned to be more taut. In the skin problem we call cellulite, it is also preferred among the supportive treatment options in the wavy and loose areas of the skin. Treatment sessions are planned as 3-6 sessions with 1-3 month intervals according to the needs of the person. Similar to the anti-aging of the face, other treatments with Morpheus8 can also be combined and planned for body anti-aging.
